You can leave the kibbutz, but the kibbutz will always remain a part of you...
"Members of Kibbutz Urim, in the Eshkol regional council, cannot return to their homes, and are not entitled to compensation from the State" (from the newspapers, November 8, 2023).
Due to the fact that the Kibbutz is more than 7 km. from the border of the Gaza Strip, Urim residents are not entitled to assistance from the State in paying for their accommodation in the places to which they have been evacuated. A whole community, which is still dispersed in various places around the country, without a clear socio-economic horizon, and with no coherent plan for schooling, has been living for months in fear, helplessness, and uncertainty.
We were all once part of Urim.
We all want the best for Urim.
Urim is in our hearts.
We are reaching out with a humble but urgent appeal to all those who hold Kibbutz Urim dear to their hearts, to aid in raising a donation that will help the Kibbutz at this time, when it is in the most complex and challenging situation that it has ever known.
To help Urim recover, we established the "Urim in Our Hearts" association ("Light for Urim") which is dedicated to the welfare of the kibbutz, and whose proceeds will be used to restore a sense of security, and help return bustling life to Urim.
Every donation will help, and will be greatly appreciated.
